Learn more about this event, created to strengthen the culture of sustainability in fashion and give visibility to those who do it differently.
Brasil Eco Fashion Week (BEFW) is an annual event that promotes good sustainable practices in the Brazilian fashion market and industry, bringing together online content, fashion shows, sales markets, workshops and entrepreneurial activities.
Defined as a fashion week, the event brings together around 120 collaborators, added to dozens of companies involved in sponsorships, support and design of the editions. BEFW itself was established in São Paulo, welcoming entrepreneurs, professionals, students and consumers from all regions of Brazil, connected with the purpose of using fashion as a positive network and a tool for transformation.
In its first edition, the event attracted three thousand people. In 2018, we broke the record for visits to the Unibes Cultural space, receiving more than four thousand people. In 2019, we reached our record of visits, almost seven thousand and five hundred people, over three days.
Free and open to the public, this huge meeting of sustainable fashion is divided into thematic spaces, with four main parts: lectures, talks and workshops, innovation in products and materials, entrepreneurship activities and fashion shows.
The event brings about topics such as active cultivation, material certifications, conscious consumption, Amazonian fashion, biodesign, upcycling techniques, textile recycling, business models for circular and collaborative fashion, transparency practices, body diversity, activism, inclusion and fair trade.
The activities for entrepreneurs include business rounds and mentorships encouraging collaborations and thriving business opportunities. The event receives entries for the brand showroom and the lineup of fashion shows through a public notice. Companies are chosen by an invited team of curators, committed to outstanding initiatives in the areas of fashion and sustainability.
The event is aimed at the fashion sector, with a focus on sustainability, but with an understanding that for systemic changes to occur, the debate must involve all sectors.

“Lectures, workshops and experiences are held to bring up relevant topics, such as organic crops, material certifications, upcycling techniques, recycling, business models for sharing and circularity, practices of transparency, diversity, activism, inclusion and trade fair.”
Sustainable fashion, conscious fashion, ecological fashion, regenerative fashion, ethical fashion, slow fashion. The terms are important to communicate the new fashion moment and identify courses of action. Beyond definitions, responsibilities call for joining forces and connecting!
Fashion is a complex system and its production impacts, as well as its trends, influence the whole world: 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions are attributed to this sector, a quarter of the chemicals produced annually are used in the production of fabrics, 92 million tons of textile waste are generated per year and 20% of water contamination is associated with fashion production.
Brazil represents the largest complete fashion production chain in the West, and is home to everything from fiber cultivation in the field, to product recycling. Our market has a great potential to put into practice new models, such as the restorative and regenerative flow proposed by the circular economy, and our mission is to stimulate these processes!
We want to co-create a fashion that respects social, environmental and cultural values, encourages the sustainable management of Brazil’s ecosystem and fights against deforestation. That promotes new interpretations of wealth, and access beyond ownership. And finally – or was it the beginning – we dream of a fashion where the sense of collective goes beyond the limitations of the ego, where the self comes before wealth.
